Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Review appropriate PN macronutrient dosing to provide adequate calories while minimizing potential complications.
  • Discuss the importance of daily ILE to provide calories and prevent or treat essential fatty acid deficiency in a patient receiving PN.
  • Describe the role of PN in the development of hepatobiliary complications.
  • Review the literature describing the impact of various ILE formulations on clinical outcomes in adult and pediatric patients receiving PN.
